The locomotive that was involved in my derailments this past weekend was
an American Models Trainmaster. I'm looking for just a bit of help. I
purchased the unit on Ebay some time ago so it's earlier history is
unknown. It had come with hi-rail wheels as I recall. Anyway I did
purchase NWSL #110 replacement wheelsets. I've noticed that the middle
axle on both trucks seems to high-center the entire truck just enough to
pivot slightly both side to side and up and down. Sort of like a
teeder-totter. I'm trying to figure out if my unit has some unseen and
unnoticed problem. I've tried using smaller/softer journal springs and
even leaving out the center springs entirely. That has caused
additional problems with the middle axle causing derailments.

Might I ask, those of you who have one, to check your Trainmasters to
see if your's is similar to mine? The vast majority of my American
Models' engines are of the older rigid truck design. This Trainmaster
and a couple of U-boats have the journal springs. I don't seem to have
any problems with the four axle u-boats.
Thanks in advance!
