John, Often times the Purina sign on the sides of buildings was advertising instead of titling for a manufacturing company. A lot of the local "farmers exchanges" would have a Purina sign painted prominently on the sides of their buildings. The exchanges would typically sell all kinds of feed to the farmers, everything from bags of dog food to bulk grain for horses or cattle. The larger exchanges would also sell farm equipment and collect/buy locally grown grains for resale or for RR car loading/unloading. Not many of them around anymore.
