Don,

You're right, but your basic versions came in 125 to 175 dollars lower than the
brass versions and the brass versions had scale wheels. You sold to a totally
different set of buyers with the different provisions of wheels and
couplers...and we/I appreciate that you have made available to both parties in
S a simple conversion system..we on the scale side have truly gained from this.
For 35 years we had the choice of PA and PB, a Baldwin Switcher, a GP-7, an
F3/7 A&B with plastic problems that certainly not be tolerated today, a Alco
switcher, and a goofy F unit that ought to be tossed if they weren't worth a
fortune...and just some how we managed.

And the flip side of your statement is this...I would not want to bring out a
brass F3 or F7 right now and expect it to sell; you have filled the void and
done it well same with switchers except for the SW1500 we have wanted that
model for years now, same with the SD-45....if you want a GP-30 or an FT you
got a much better chance of getting one with them having been made once upon a
time than getting enough folks together to get a new production run made...that
isn't old thinking it is common sense.

  Dear Gale,
Boy, I hate to disagree with a long time friend, but this is "old thinking".
We all thought this way in the past. A third rail in S was to remake a model
that came out in brass. But, I think the success of the AM FA's, our (SHS) SW9,
SW1, NW2, F3A, F3B, F7A, F7B were all made in brass and seem to sell just
fine...
