Regardless of the RP process selected or the materials used, ALL of them are
still based on the premise of "additive layers". Software is only the tip
of the RP iceberg. Anyone who is willing to invest in the cost and time
required to make highly detailed 3D CAD files suitable to be converted into
RP'd parts also needs to completely understand the limitations of the RP
process, including layering, stair-stepping (on corners), material
selection, layer thickness (resolution), part orientation, what will and
will not reproduce, etc.

I've been involved with RP as my core business since 1995 and it's changing
all the time. You can't "stick your toe" in the water once in a while and
expect to get good results. This industry requires your FULL commitment and
attention, just like any other high-tech industry.
