Don,

The pages look just like the magazine and I believe the issues from the
pre-electronic press days are just scanned. So yes, you have the typical
columns.

It doesn't seem to be a problem for me. I can read it on my screen fine in
the "fit page" mode where the magazine page height is equal to the screen
height minus the program toolbars. Of course this can vary with the size of
your monitor and its resolution setting.

I already had the Trains and Classic Trains sets, so I had an idea when the
MR set was announced.

How are the pages viewed. Most magazine articles converted to digital
viewing for viewing a single page require to scroll down on the left side of
the page, them scroll up and over to scroll down the right side. Clumsy at
best.

Well ladies and gentlemen, I received my DVDs of 75 years of Model
Railroader yesterday.  Loaded it onto my computer when I got home from work
(it took over 2 hours and 25 gig of hard drive).  It's absolutely
fantastic.  Not only can I see what's there, like a periodical index, but
it's instantly available for me to print, and the 100,000 pages of text is
searchable.  Just the thought of all those boxes of magazines leaving my
attic has raised my top floor by an inch!  I don't think I'd even mind
moving if I had to :o)  By the way, the first thing I printed out was String
Bob's Iowa Central article.  Hey Bob, the "Big Mistake"?
