It doesn't have the resolution we would want for most model projects, but might be a starting point for mechanical elements, or practice and testing of the design files before sending them out to a better resolution service bureau. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/printrbot/printrbot-your-first-3d-printer The site itself is an interesting concept. I wonder if something like it could be used for projects in S. List what you want to build (or what you want to see built). When enough people kick in money, a manufacturer can produce the project with assurance. If nobody bites, or there are not enough customers by the cut-off date, the project goes away.
