Since we're doing a "Who Wants" or "Wish List" of items we'd like to have in
"S" scale I thought it might be an opportune time to determine if there is an
aftermarket for correct Union Pacific 41-CUDO and AT&SF 41-CDO passenger
trucks. These two styles of trucks are identical except for the diameter of the
bolster hole which is a non-issue on a model. They are modern, outside swing
hanger trucks with disc brakes, which are very similar to trucks used under
other roads passenger equipment in the 1950's and 60's.
They were used under many lightweight passenger cars built after 1950/51. The
are also correct for many of the Amtrak cars since Amtrak received most of the
UP and AT&SF fleets after 1971.
I'm planning to have these built in brass right now but have discussed some
other options as well.
Just trying to see how many other "S" modelers would be interestd or if I'm the
only one.........but, this will happen next year in some medium.
