SHABBONA maintenance of way forces were out over the weekend. The big curve between MZ and Mt. Zion had shifted and was causing problems with re-trucked passenger equipment, also, a couple of low spots just East of the MZ diamond were impeding smooth operation in that area.
MOW re-aligned and reset the cross level on the banked curve, then re-tamped the low spots at MZ. This eliminated two temporary slow orders in those areas. Next on the list for repair is the bridge over the creek at the West end of Bonaparte, which has been causing some problems with passenger equipment, as well. These problem areas did not become manifest until I re-trucked the streamlined passenger fleet with American Models sprung Budd trucks. Some are the result of unballasted track "pumping" as trains pass over it, however, I'm glad to have the opportunity to re-work those areas before ballasting commences.
