I was recently looking at flyer stuff with the same intention in mind. I
was thinking about building a 1950's era waterfront layout and don't have any
early era S stuff but I see tons of flyer stuff for sale so was thinking why
not just convert it with scale wheels and weather it and run it. On a scale
layout it would probably look pretty good from normal viewing distance and
would allow a lot of road names and paint schemes with no decaling or paint
work other than weathering.
