Hi Michael; Yes, Don Thompson of SHS started the original "Trainstuff" to produce modern cars. The models were produced from masters by Stan Stokrocki. The models are made from translucent yellow epoxy resin, wood and white metal detail castings, rather than the newer resins we see from F&C or Smoky valley. Both gentlemen are on this list (Don commented earlier this morning on the NMRA/NASG standard gauge thread).
Later, Wayne Pier acquired the company and added steam era cars from the ARA standard designs. They are certainly worthwhile kits, especially if the prototype is not among the current offerings in S.
