There's a term for that kind of thinking, but I can't remember how it's
spelled right now.

It is true that S guys tend to avoid mingling with non-S folks.  Birds of a
feather feel more comfortable flying with those who are alike.  Having
something in common makes one feel more comfortable.  Which sort of explains
why S has lagged behind the other scales in the adoption of new things -
like DCC, for one example - which is unfortunate.  I do think a greater
interaction with those active modelers in other scales would help S scale
advance more quickly and would also expose others to what S scale is all
about.  Everyone would benefit.
