The catalog splits the AF line into two categories: S scale and 'Traditional'. It says AF S-scale will be built to true scale dimensions in most cases, be offered with scale trucks and wheels and have pilot holes for installing scale couplers. That sounds similar to some other manufacturers in S.
It appears Lionel has decided to push the AF brand past its extended period of arrested development. This is quite encouraging and there is now Lionel AF product that I actually want to buy for my scale layout.
