"Sorry, William... but you clearly have no knowledge of what goes on in HO. If you don't think HO modelers care about proto-typicality, then why do you think all the detail parts companies offer so mnyt detail parts in HO? I can't even begin to tell you how many companies there are that produce prototypical detail parts for HO modelers.
There is even a prototype modelers group on Yahoo specifically for those who model prototypically... it's called the Railroad Prototype Modelers Forum : <http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RPM-forum/?yguid=291770215> http://groups.yahoo.com/group/RPM-forum/?yguid=291770215" Dear John, I do know from where in I speak. I've been around a long time and most of model railroad friends are in HO and N scale. Modelers have their interests and it is not all rivet counting. They all love to run trains and have a nice layout just like the majority of us in S. This past year I have seen several very nice S Hi-rail layouts in my area that I didn't even know existed. Both were well stocked in SHS and American Models rolling stock, its these modelers who keep our manufacturers in business. If companies depended on rivet counters they would go out of business. I have seen and (photographed) some of the best model railroads in the USA and each modeler has their own pecking order when it came to interest. There always will be model railroad companies, and there will always be smaller model railroad companies that will offer parts to make the RTR market equipment look more prototypical. Now, I think I'll go run some of my un-prototypical S scale trains! "S"incerely, Bill FRaley
