Thanks for the info on the potential maker of my Q.  I've attempted to attache 
a couple of photos to this reply so you can have a look.  We'll see if they 
come through.  Please pardon my makeshift photo set-up.

The loco is very dusty but it is painted pretty much solid grimy black from 
head to foot - running gear and all.  Can't really tell if it's been soldered 
or epoxied together.
