I attended the Twin Cities Division of the NMRA meeting tonight. A nice batch
of the Pines and Prairies guys were there. We had good hands on clinics
covering coloring hard shell scenery. Creating great scenery on a pink foam
platform and weathering freight cars. Good fun.
I was doing some cleaning and found four number 5 turnouts I had removed from a
yard I pulled out. I set them out to rebuild but like so many of the older Old
Pullman turnouts, they are badly pitted with corrosion possibly from the solder
or flux the manufacturer used. I really think it will be faster to build new
than clean these up plus the frogs I make with the Fast tracks jig are better
anyway. So I guess it is in to the recycling for these. Cleans up a little
space and moves me a bit further forward on my tasks.
Well, we are on the edge of another weekend, a bit busy with the social
calendar but I just know I will be able to get something fun done on the
railroad. There sure are enough projects.
