Several years ago I built the SW and wrote a review in the old 3/16's S
Scale Railroading magazine. Although things might have changed
somewhat, I thought it was a good project if you realize that the
castings are pretty thick compared to the Oriental brass versions. Don
Thompson got my model when he was designing the SHS SW series. I don't
think the North Yard drive was available for that model yet, so I bought
a cobbled together drive once sold by the Steam Depot, and it wasn't too
swift.
Overall not that difficult to build, the detail was fairly good, but I'd
bet they've sold very few since the SHS versions have come out. I used
epoxy for most of the joints but tried soldering on a few. With one
exception the soldering worked rather well!
