Hi Bill; According to two articles (the MM one and the "Focus on Freight Cars" someone else mentioned), there were 1000 cars with 5/5/5 ribbed ends and wood doors, 1000 cars with 3/3/3 dreadnought ends and steel doors and 300 with 3/3/3 dreadnought 'B' ends and dreadnought end doors. An additional 1700 cars were built in 1929 with the inside height increased to 10'3" (from 10' even) and the door opening to 12 feet (from 11).
Looking through the photos in "Focus on Freight Cars" it appears that reasonable conversions of the dreadnaught end cars would yield T&P, MP, SLSF, MKT, SP and maybe a couple of other prototypes. None of these is exactly the same, but changing a few details and/or the roof would be closer. Pieter E.
