Hi Greg, Yes, I narrowed it by the width of a carbide saw blade. I built
another gon a few years ago without narrowing the body and it seemed a bit wide
so I set this one on the radial saw table and ran a cut down the centerline
then glued it back together. I also scraped off the rivets and the old ladders
and replaced them with brass wire grabs.
a few simple details and some body bolsters to take S scale trucks and it was
good to go. The original Lionel paint job was republic steel and I patched it
for the Visalia Electric which still exists as a shortline in my alternative
