Many thanks to all the S scale experts for responding, most of them
off-list.For those others interested, there was pretty general consensus, as
Roy states, that three versions were produced, and that the usual price range is
$300-500,$300 or less being a tempting price, more than $500 one must want it,
price-is-no-object. Most informants settled around $400, which seems to have
beenthe original list, so perhaps this is one of the few S scale brass imports
thathas not increased markedly in value over the years.

I am sure that Omnicon made 3 versions, RDC-1,2, and 3. I
have one but would have to get it out to see which one it is. New, it cost me
$300.00.

I may have found the only S scale piece at the Chicago O scale
show today (bought plenty of O scale, however), an Omnicon RDC-1.
Two questions: I think I paid a quite fair price for it, but what is the
usual market value now? Did Omnicon produce any of the other
  configurations of the Budd cars?
