Bill,
I like what you said "I usually add thinner by the Airbrush bottle". That keeps
waiste down to a minimum. If you use a airbrush long enough you learn new
tricks. Part of the hobby.
                  Thanks,
                               Alan

Lynn,

You are correct. Once thinner has been added to Scalecoat it can and does
harden/gel up in a sealed bottle. The time varies but usually in about a month
you are done and it has to be discarded. But I try my best to line up like
colored cars and use the whole bottle at 1 sitting. That gets you the best
results – using a fresh bottle and of course there is no waste.

Some have criticized the shelf life of Scalecoat. That is largely unfounded. I
write the purchase date on every bottle.  They are usually ordered fresh
because my LHS does not stock but a few bottles. I have used Scalecoat that was
4+ years old with good results. The key is “open it and USE it”. I cannot deny
the change that happens once the bottle is opened. In spite of some of the
issues it is still my favorite paint.

I usually add thinner by the airbrush bottle. Partial bottles remain uncut and
are used for hand touch up.

Floquil had an unlimited shelf life. I have some VERY old bottles I still use
at times.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
