Correct if you add thinner to the bottle or put the thinned paint back in the
bottle.
However, if keep the thinner out and you make sure the cap and the bottle top
are clean and dry before you reseal using the plastic seal, store the bottles
upside down. I have had Scalecoat last for years using this method. The
reason that you have to wipe down the lid and bottle is to keep it easy to open.
This also works for Floquil. I still have oddball colours from the 1970's in
useable shape.
Micro Mart also has a neat kitchen bottle opener that helps open stubborn
bottles as well.
