Hello Jeffrey, I didn't do the New River Mining but its "sister" kit - ballast loader. The windows were fine. My issue was adjusting the height and width of the doors to make it fit S. It involved some cutting and splicing. Also, I bought two kits and used the parts to create one longer building and miscellaneous shorter one. As my layout in this area is viewed only from one side, I was able to get a lot of mileage out of them. On occasion, I had to use styrene sheet metal to fill in a few "holes" and the different width gives somewhat of a different look when painted. All in all, though, the detail in the kits makes it worthwhile. I also painted the kits (using spray cans, principally primers) and used plenty of lightweighht spackle to fill in gaps.
I think you'll run into many of the same issuues with New River that I did with the ballast loader. Hope above helps. Good luck! Minus the windows it seems like a decent conversion could be made. Jeffrey Ngowe
