Ed: I hope that you include uncoupler's in your review. My uncoupler works with
rail thru Code 148 while under the track. After ballasting they are not visible
and it only uncoupler cars when the operator wants to uncouple the cars. I have
demonstrated them at O Scale west for the last 3or 4 years. My uncoupler works
the Kadee's without modification to the couplers stock out of the box and
installed on a car. The biggest advantage is no one has to reach over the
layout to uncouple the cars. And Yes the uncoupler will delay Kadee's even
using code 148 rail.

Subject: {S-Scale List} Coupler Problems.......(if any)

Gents….

I am beginning to prepare a comprehensive (I hope) article about couplers for S
scale.  I intend to discuss Kadee S, Kadee HO, SHS, Walthers HO and AM’s dummy
coupler in some detail.  I am not planning to discuss any other couplers unless
they are currently commercially available.  Please let me know if I have
omitted any brand or type coupler that is currently commercially available.

I was thinking it might be good to solicit comments from everyone regarding
their experiences – both good and bad – with the above couplers.  I am
particularly interested in learning of specific situations where a particular
coupler solved an unusual problem when no other coupler would suffice.  Also,
what are the shortcomings or dislikes of each coupler.  Is there a common
problem with the trip pin working loose from the knuckle casting on some
couplers?  And, not to be negative, what are the features you really like the
most about each coupler.  What are its unique advantages?

My goal is to cover all the bases as thoroughly as possible.  Please let me
know your thoughts so that I can include them in the article.  OFF LIST would
probably be better, but I don’t personally particularly care.   If you want to
share experiences on list, let’s go for it!

Thanks….Ed L.
