Hello Michael; In general, polls on the list are not terribly productive. If you look back at some of the older polls on diesel locomotives (as one example), you see that participation has declined since the beginning of the list, even as the list membership has grown. I don't know why this is, just that is the trend I've seen over a number of years.
You will get a little better results by asking for reservations on a couple of lists (here and SSTOT), and sending notices to Dispatch and 1/64 Modeling guide with both email and non-email (postal service or phone) contact. Even then, there is often very soft response until a product is actually produced. When I had my FGEX reefer roofs made I hoped to get 50 responses before hand. I never got close, and some who did respond backed out once I made the part anyway. Many folks then bought them and even seemed to have missed the original notices completely! Ironically, a couple of manufactures have proved that announcing a product will NOT be made do to lack of response, or threatening to scrap the remaining stock of an existing product, brings out the buyers.
