Gerry....
I have two ideas that might be helpful.
One is to use or sort-of copy the BUDD diaphragms made by American Models. I
use these on all my passenger cars although I modify them extensively.
The other idea is to copy the working HO diaphragms made by American Limited
Models of Fremont, California. ALM makes diaphragms for heavyweights,
streamliners, AMTRAK double decker cars, diesels of various kinds, etc. in both
HO and N scales. You ought to be able to take their design concepts and
upscale the dimensions to S scale.
Don't ask me if this is legal and/or a copyright violation. I have no idea
and, besides, you are the lawyer -- not me.
