Hi Don;

Yes, provision for a ventilator door is another possibility. It is strange that
none of the literature I have seen on the design comment on this feature.

I regret that you made the change in the roof, although I understand that it
allowed the tooling to be used on the U.S.R.A. double sheathed and rebuilt
cars. Still, it means that the later run SS cars need to have the track
extended. I recently modified a MILW car from a later run, and swapped the roof
for one from a stock car to get the full length door track.

The above comment aside, thanks for making such great cars! I never really
expected to see a RTR U.S.R.A. boxcar in S!

Dear Pieter,  We were very curious also (only the first run had this feature,
we had this area of the roof tool welded and recut with the door guide only to
the right).  The only cars I have ever seen with door guides to both side used
two doors, either as an autobox, or a ventilated boxcar.  I always wondered if
a 2nd door would someday be added to the cars for ventilation similar to the
ACL watermelon cars...Don
