My point, perhaps not clearly explained, was that if there were sufficient 
profits the production of these items would have continued.  Without sufficient 
profits, the manufacturers of these products turned their attention to other 
things. 

To the immediate point, perhaps Sergent is not realizing sufficient profit and 
is merely selling off existing inventory and planning to quietly fade away.  
While not fun to contemplate, who are we to know?

PS:  System One was the most widely advertised NMRA-compliant DCC system in the 
early days.  Don Wangrow ran the company.  His firm was, at one time, the fifth 
largest advertiser with Model Railroader magazine.
