Hi all --
Dave Blum was affected by the power outages along the east coast, so he can’t
defend himself. Dave was left as the sole person in charge of the convention
when Monte Heppe had to resign for health reasons. My guess is that he has 1)
not felt it was necessary to send a receipt notice (not how I feel about it) or
2) has not had the time to do it or 3) had not had all the information to do
it, etc..
When I got an acknowledgement from Bill Roberts for the Sacramento convention,
I made sure that both he and Ed L. knew that I appreciated it.
I had my concerns about the Duluth convention not giving full acknowledgements,
so I took copies of all the registration forms, canceled checks and credit card
statements to the show. As it turned out, there was an error, and had I not
brought all of that I would have either missed that part of the event or had to
pay again. So fair warning...
I know this is not the best way to run things, but I am not in charge. Just
know that “I feel your pain” and future events will, I hope, have better
manners.
Re: the Duluth convention car, I will jingle Walt Jopke's bell and have him get
a new update. All I can tell you is that Ron Sebastian of Des Plains Hobbies
told me at the O Scale West + S that he hoped to have the cars done by late
summer. However, this all involves China, so you know that things can and do
slip. As I recall, Ron will not answer individual's questions about this
project -- you will have to hear from Walt. You will also have to talk to Walt
to verify your payment status. His email address is on the cc line of this
email, or you can go to the NASG website ( www.nasg.org ), click on the “About”
tab and scroll down to near the bottom of the page to find Walt’s name.
Clicking on that will set you up will an email to him. You can use this tool
to contact almost ANY of the NASG cadre...
See you in Chattanooga!

Actually I was wondering the same thing myself. I sent in my registration
quite a while ago but have had nothing in writing that says I am registered.
However the hotel sent a confirmation and my check was cashed, so I guess I
will not be a surprise when we get there.
Come on guys, I know you read this list. Is there some kind of confirmation
coming, or should we just show up and hope for the best?

I wonder whether any among the group members have the same questions I have
regarding:
1. The Chattanooga Convention. I sent in a check for the convention itself and
for the convention car. Are those who send their money supposed to receive a
confirmation, or do we just show up and we'll be on the approved list?
2. The other question goes back to 2010. Although I could not make it up to
the convention in Duluth, I did order two CGW ARA cars [X29 lookalikes] but
never did receive confirmation that someone--I cannot recall who--has my money.
Recently, someone, presumably connected with the project--remarked that the
cars are close to completion. Sounded good, so I emailed that person. Again I
received no response.
I am not trying to finger anyone, just want to be sure that I will one day
receive a package in the mail with those two cars. A flyer inserted in the
"Despatch" was what I mailed along with my check to the address listed on the
flyer.
