My Friday fun included repairing some passenger car sides (Laser Horizons) on which I have made several almost-fatal mistakes. Its 50-50 whether these cars will be ready for the Chattanooga Convention. But on a more positive note I attached the wooden railings on the steam excursion commissary car. Tomorrow I add S people to the car. I do not have any S people who look like railfans on an excursion. I have tried to paint red scarves around the necks with limited visual success. I gave up painting the heads blue to represent railroad hats because they did not look right. None of them have goggles either. A few of the passengers have committed the sin of wearing white on a steam excursion. But they are all having fun because a Southern Steam excursion was an all-day party. The commissary car is made from an SHS baggage car. Its lettered for the Southern's "Queen & Crescent Club" car. I am sure that a few of you can remember riding in that car in the 1970s and early 1980s. My steam excursion train will not be completed in time for the Chattanooga Convention but at least some of it will make the trip. - Earl Henry, Nashville
