Well, I haven't made much progress on anything for the past month or so, just haven't been able to work up the urge. Of course maybe if I had a nice clean Bill Lane-style workbench, that might change.
Among the things I have accomplished, however, is a close coupling system for the SHABBONA F-units. This was almost a necessity due to the fact that slack "run-ins" were causing undesired uncouplings between the units when yarding trains. The best solution here would be sprung buffers between the units to keep the slack stretched until I'm ready to cut the units apart. I did this on the ALCO FA/FB set when I built them years ago, but I'm not sure my dexterity is still up to the task. Another idea is resistors in series, at least on the booster units. On another front, I successfully ran the daily freight to Mooar Yard behind a consist of FA-2 #50B and GP-9 #42, demonstrating once again the universal multiple-unit capabilities of the locomotive fleet. If I were to re-gear SW-1 #22, all locomotives would have universal MU capability. If I'm not in the mood to run anything, I can get a certain amount of satisfaction just making up and breaking up engine consists. With just a little more ambition, I can run the daily passenger trains, as well. I've also been pipe-dreaming Bonaparte on the main line. The track is in and serviceable, although the Main Line Dispatcher panel at Mt. Zion is still not installed. Bonaparte is not easy to reach, being in an area requiring a "duck-under" for access, so careful planning will be necessary for this area. Any trains working this area can plan on being here for awhile, since I basically missed my opportunity to tear out the sidetracks and "straight-rail" the main line here. I was able to obtain a few more Ace/AF body shells, so my grain hauling boxcar fleet is now complete. Coming up on my list is basic constant headlights on my locomotive fleet Have a good time in Chattanooga, and rise a couple for me. boB Nicholson _______________________________________________ --- In [email protected], "Bill Lane" <bill@...> wrote: > > Hopefully everyone! > > > > Thank You, > Bill Lane > > Modeling the Mighty Pennsy & PRSL in 1957 in S Scale since 1988 > > See my finished models at: > <http://www.lanestrains.com/> http://www.lanestrains.com > Look at what has been made in PRR in S Scale! > > > > See my layout progess at: > > <http://www.lanestrains.com/My_Layout.htm> > http://www.lanestrains.com/My_Layout.htm > > Custom Train Parts Design > <http://www.lanestrains.com/SolidWorks_Modeling.htm> > http://www.lanestrains.com/SolidWorks_Modeling.htm > > PRR Builders Photos Bought, Sold & Traded > (Trading is MUCH preferred) > <http://www.lanestrains.com/PRRphotos.xls> > http://www.lanestrains.com/PRRphotos.xls > > ***Join the PRR T&HS*** > The other members are not ALL like me! > <http://www.prrths.com/> http://www.prrths.com > <http://www.lanestrains.com/PRRTHS_Application.pdf> > http://www.lanestrains.com/PRRTHS_Application.pdf > > Join the Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines Historical Society > It's FREE to join! <http://www.prslhs.com/> http://www.prslhs.com > Preserving The Memory Of The PRSL > ------------------------------------ Yahoo!
