I received my June Dispatch this week and Sam Powell had a nice review of
the BTS New River Series Two Stall Engine House he built. In the review Sam
mentioned that the engine house doors are fixed and that it might be
possible to make them movable, but that he didn't look into it. I built the
kit a few years ago and I made my doors movable. In my case I used Grandt
Line 3524 Engine House door hinges on the doors. These are a strap type
hinge and I used three of them per door. On the building door frame I bent
a piece of brass wire into an "L" shape with the bottom going into a hole
drilled on the door frame. The loop on the end of the GL hinges can then
fit in the vertical part of the "L". I only put the brass piece on the top
and bottom hinge. You do have to get everything aligned correctly and
hanging the door on two points is hard enough.
