I did an NYSW GP-18 (with sloped EMD factory
nose). This was a complete scratchbuilt job, well before the DPM kit came
out. The Modeling Guide had an article on doing this.
If the sloped
nose clears (though the clearances are tight), a flat one should. It's
been a long time since I've had the model apart: I think I either used a
lower-profile screw to attach the truck, or filed down the one that was
there.
The same gear tower clears the nose of the GP-35: Ron B.
told me he took that into account when the FP-7 drive was designed. How do
the dimensions of your prototype compare to that?
