At the risk of sounding depressing, I would tend to agree with Paul's 
assessment.

There's already a glut of model railroad equipment, notably from the sectors 
that are having more severe aging demographics than other scales.  3 rail O 
scale being one of them.  I used to frequent the 3 rail forum more than I have 
of late, and over the past two years or so there have been more "R.I.P. _____" 
threads than I have ever seen before.

Eventually, all of this "stuff" we personally own will have to be dumped just 
like you're seeing now on the resale market.  Alas, the line is getting shorter 
in front of us. :-(

Kind of sobering.
