It's been an eventful 2 weekends. Last Saturday (6/28) 4 Maine S Scalers got
together at the home of George Marcopulos 2-1/2 hours north of me I think
there was only one Maine scaler missing! To make up for it we had an O Scaler
standing in. George has an amazing number of nicely built city buildings to
install when the trackwork is further along. Frank Knight of Sn2 Crew fame had
a great time looking for, and finding, things to work on to keep himself busy
while I looked on trying to keep from embarassing myself. This is a
significant milestone in Maine S Scale history that shouldn't go without
mention. The O Scaler, Pierre Marki, has scratch-built a NY style float bridge
and float switching layout in his unheated basement. It's truely a labor of
love that unlike most layouts, can only be operated for 3 seasons.
This last weekend, motivated by the visit to George's, I spent cleaning up
trackwork on my upper level. Thanks to Trevor Marshall and a number of other
freinds I'm also beginning to simplify my design to eliminate some trackage
that I squeezed in. Doing so will give me more real estate for scenery and
better capture the flavor of what I'm attempting to model.
All in all a fun two weekends.
