All,

After many distractions I finished the USRA draft gear today.
http://www.lanestrains.com/USRA_Draft_Gear.jpg It is good at times to not
go start to finish and use section views in the assembly drawing! I caught
a few mistakes that way!

At the suggestion of John Degnan I eliminated the "ear" side screw mounting
holes. I have not gotten an OK from my caster yet on the tree size but I
hope it will be OK. So far I am heading towards brass with these parts.
There as some thin walls that might not hold up to the stress so urethane is
not tested yet.

As the convention winds down (still bummed about not going) we can al talk
about the possibility of new parts coming out. If you only knew what was in
the pipeline coming from Lanes Trains! You PRR guys do not have to look
forward to what MTH **MIGHT** make. Keep an eye on what I am doing!

Prices for the draft gear are still not known. This is a pretty chunky tree
and the printing prices have gone crazy since I first started this process.

A more generic "one size fits all" draft gear could come after this one. We
will have to see how John made out with his visit to Sergent.

Thank You,
Bill Lane
