An option you possibly did not consider in your haste to immediately sell
your "mistake" hopper cars was to letter them for this little northern road
called the Mighty Pennsylvania Railroad. THAT is how THIS car came to be in
S Scale. 

 

The person the originated the SSA car - the Late John Craft and I had **many
discussions** about what car to make. I wanted the H21a - which it almost
was a few times. In the end since it was his project John chose the H39
because he said it hit the very end of steam (it did not at least on the
PRR) but was around for Conrail etc which is true.

 

The attached is the PRR's ONLY peaked end hopper car. Yup - only 1 car.
Subsequent cars did not have peaked ends. As previously mentioned the PRR
only had ONE offset hopper too.
