Bruce Smale's Unnamed Railroad will be featured on a Southern California layout tour on Sunday, September 9. The Unnamed Railroad is an S gauge layout intended for fun. As Bruce says, "The trains that run on this No Name line seem to enjoy the trip because they come back often".
In 1998 Bruce added a 13 x 22 foot train room. The original part of the layout was built low to the floor to accommodate young grandchildren. On the back wall is an 18 x 3 foot section with three tracks that run underground on one end. On the other end one track runs under and one up over and around. All these tracks head out to a walk- around 6 x 14 foot. island. The tracks runs around a mountain (Mount Smale, named for the owner), along a lake and river. One siding has the circus train just waiting to unload. On the long section along the back wall is a steam generator plant with an Sn3 track that brings coal to run the steam plant. Other railroads share the room. Overhead are two G, two O, and two more S gauge lines to add to the fun. Bruce says, "There is still a lot of work to do but isn't that what we do?". Here is information on the whole layout tour: Model Railroads Of Southern California's thirty-fifth layout tour takes place Sunday (Not the usual Saturday), September 9.
