Guys,

Let's not worry so much about how someone is going to manufacture a new
locomotive or how someone would have to build a new frame (brass by the
way, plain and simple). This simply an opportunity to get a new company
making S scale detail parts for the contemporary modeler. How you use
it is up to you, but sitting on the sidelines bickering about the hows
and whys isn't going to get the stuff produced. If you don't like to
model and only want ready to run, or if your happy with the way things
are, fine. Don't buy it. However, this is intended to get us as S scale
modelers off our collective rear ends and get the creative juices
flowing on how these parts can be used. If there wasn't a market for
them in HO, then RFP wouldn't be doing as well as they are. There is a
market in S for this obviously, and no manufacturing taking place.
Should be a slam dunk. I'm going to go ahead and ask RFP to produce the
two items I mentioned in the beginning and see where it goes from
there. The HO parts are $5.00 each, so I wouldn't imagine the S scale
part to be much more than $7.50 or so. Heck even $10.00 is good. You
guys that are worried about the hows it going to work and locomotive
frame building, obviously haven't built one before. It's not that
difficult. Oh and by the way the comapny most of you have been
referring to was Railpower Products and they produced shells that would
fit on either their own chassis or with a little modification other
companies chassis. They also produced units that weren't on the market
at that time, except for their GP35, however that was a scale width hood
to replace the Athearn wide hood.

Thanks
Michael Ostertag
