The water tank was usually mounted to the bottom of the center sill. The attached photo shows the water tank of the B&O lounge observation car Washington. This 1949 Pullman Standard car has a smaller water tank, since the lounge did not have much demand for water. Notice in the photo that the water tank is mounted below the center sill (located at the top of the photo).
