I understood that the "woodies" had a thin brass sheet between the wood itself
and the bracing. The soldering on mine is as good as any; the good appearance
led me to stop my plans and not mess up someone else's good work. DJE

Subject: {S-Scale List} Cryer Gray Gondola II

  Let me restate:

I have 2 Cryer gray gondolas - the steel rebuild version. They are very nice!
I did NOT have any problems with them. Given the MANY cars from the SAME
builder I have had to repair it made me not want the composite version at all.
That is a FACT and my opinion. Unless someone that has a composite version can
tell me that my old builder somehow figured out how to solder brass to wood the
expansion and contraction of different materials gave me cause to doubt its
successful construction in model form. It you have had 1 for a while without
issue than there is no problem.

  Thank You,
  Bill Lane
