All,
Since sending this post the first time I had thought about some after convention stops which might become a DIY layout tour. Including my layout, there are 3 SCALE layouts in a ½ hour radius from me. That is a pretty high concentration. My layout and the next closest to me are likely to still be plywood centrals in a year without much scenery. The 3rd layout is small but mostly has scenery. It was a former Lehigh Valley S Gaugers portable layout with many Lehigh Valley buildings on it. Between Scranton and my house is 1 more SCALE layout. Because I have not discussed any of this with the other layout owners yet I am keeping it anonymous for now. Thinking about how I would get here and to Scranton if I lived elsewhere and such a tour happens, I would likely fly into Philadelphia and drive up to Scranton (About 2 ½ hours drive). This way you would be in a vehicle able to wander to the stops heading back towards your departure airport. I am within about 6 miles of the Phila airport right across the river. It just takes about 12 miles of driving to get there! So this is some forward thinking I am not against putting this idea in some **possible** convention events now. People seem to get motivated to work on their layouts if a group is coming in a year to see it! If it happens great if not people just made good progress on their layouts! Its all good!
