Thanks guys, for the compliments. The car was made from 2 AF baggage cars
spliced together, hence the two different body colors. I'll have to dig into my
notes for the measurements, but I remember the center section was cut 4 scale
feet from the outer edge of the doors. The outer sections were cut long enough
to get the proper length of the car. This allowed me to cover the cuts with
properly spaced splice plates. The ends were removed, preserving the rivet line
at the ends of the car. A portion of the roof ends came off with the ends. New
ends were fabbed up with styrene. The roof end was molded with J.B. Kwik epoxy.
The end slope of the roof was to gradual, so I made it steeper with the epoxy.
The under frame is fabbed out of styrene. B.T.S. supplied the brass parts and
trucks. Rivets have not been applied yet, but I have some Archer's to try. I'm
going to prime the car, and then apply the rivets, and re-prime, then paint.
That will hopefully give the rivets something better to hold on to than the
somewhat slippery plastic. Now that the weather is getting colder,I'll try to
consolodate my notes, and photo's and try my hand at an article on this
project. Once this project is complete, its on to making some PRR GLa's from
USRA hoppers.

A side note, the cars I used were PAINTED shells that were stripped. The
"molded in color" shells would not stay glued. Maybe some of you know what to
use to bond that type of plastic. If you know of something that works, I would
like to know. The unpainted shells are easier to find (around here).

Bud, The decals for the FP7's are from Micro-Scale. Set # 64-45,Pennsy single
stripe diesels, from DPH. The number board numbers are out of an HO champ set.

Thanks again,

Bob Davis
