Somewhere along the line, I lost track of the project for grab irons. I am under the impression that the grabs are to replace the brittle plastic grabs made for PRS box cars and refrigerator cars. Am I right about that? Your reference to stirrup steps for a Soo Line cattle car intrigue me. Years ago I purchased and still have yet to assemble a wood kit for a Soo Line saw-tooth cattle car. I am guessing that the stirrup steps you are fashioning would work with the kit. That's just a guess and possibly not on point. Oh, are you at liberty to say what outfit is coming up with a Soo Line stock car? There are test shots in brass of this tree made. I have not seem them yet but they were described to me yesterday as “exquisite”. I will see them on Saturday.
