Farmall is the only tractor.

  boB and all,

I was afraid to try and drill out the stake pockets on the metal car--seems
like it would be difficult to start the hole with the pocket area being sloped
like it is. However, I can still do it assuming there's an easy way. I'm
running a load of John Deere's--my wife would have preferred IH/Farmall, as her
dad was a dealer for awhile. Of course, iff'in your a real Canadian you have
to being shipping the famous Cockshutt tractor (great for jokes in my teen
years).

I arranged my load in two different ways, seems like every time I saw a
'factory' load they were different. I also have a oversize load of a earth
scraper--Norscott (sp) that is really neat, but I found them being shipped less
those big tires. I tried that but that just didn't look right, so I've put
them back on--besides how would one off-load them anyhow?

And speaking of die-cast toys. I have several Cats around the layout. Over
the years the rubber treads have given up. Has anybody found any replacements?
Obviously they need not be flexible rubber--and I haven't found a way to
putting them on assuming I could find any! Probably requires a complete
dis-assembly of the entire unit.

During the Altoona convention, on the loop--back when?--Billy & Danny Click
and myself photographed a couple of trains that had dozen of long flats of
harvesters from John Deere. One could only imagine who would have ordered that
many of them--I assumed they were for export.

I converted some AF flat cars a while ago. I went the opposite direction
and extended the decks over the stake pockets, and drilled holes in the stake
pockets. This past week, I loaded two of them with John Deere tractors. I'll
post a couple of photos later. In the meantime, I believe I did post photos of
the finished flat cars.

real and model photos (these are especially well executed). I also have to
marvel at how fast you got where you are on the layout... If you havenâ?Tt done
a bit about the turntable on the blog, you ought to.

did narrow the deck a bit and cut the edges to better indicate individual
boards, but I used Tester acrylic burnt umber to paint the deck, thinning it
just a bit with water in the brush so that the more I brushed the streakier it
got without leaving the plastic showing. I have used real wood for decks, and
it is just as hard to make it look right though easier to make it look used.
