the question that i have, is who is this kristi jouben?, and why was
her/his (/) text sent to the webmaster?
mel perry
and if anyone is interested, it is getting awful late in the game, to
start offering opinions to mth,
with design, tooling, production, shipping and customs, i think they
have their game plan
already figured out for the first part of 2013, and as far as the
sd70ace goes, i would bet the
farm, that mth is producing the flyonel version, there aren't to msny
manufacturers in the prc
who deal in "s". and basically the only difference, is in the power
and electronics

Hi Ben...
I went to the MTH web site and looked around. There is a "contact
us" button
(or something similar) which actually works. There was also a
variety of topics
to choose from such as orders, employment, dealers, repairs, etc.,
etc. One of
the topics was new product suggestions.
I gave MTH my suggestion for something new and got a polite
response two days
later. The response stated that all suggestions are put into a big
pile and the
pile is actually considered when the time comes to make a new
product decision.
I suppose the item with the most suggestions moves to the top of
the pile,
although that was not specifically stated.
Hope the system works....Ed L.

> I spoke with the folks at MTH at York, I won't say who it was,
but they are in the process of finalizing their first S-Scale
catalog. An exciting time for our group with our new heavyweight in
our corner. This first catalog will be published in late November.
In this process leading up to the catalog release, they are
finalizing how they will come to market with items. I want to ask
that you inform the S-Gauge and S-Scale community to voice their
opinion. The topics I think that should be responded to are:
> 1. They have not decided if they will include scale wheels in the
boxes as S-Helper did. If our NASG group feels this is important,
then we should email our thoughts.
> 2. They have not decided if they should sell in single A and B
units like their HO line, or in ABA sets like they do their O Gauge
line. Remember that MTH Premier O line only sells cab units in sets
and they do not break them up like S-Helper did or like American
Models does. I think we would all prefer A and B units sold
separately and piece together the consists we want for our roads,
especially when some roads did not even us B units. MTH does not
research who used B Units because the O 3-Rail community does not
care. They just want matching sets because it is pretty. We need to
voice our opinion if we want prototypical fidelity like we were
used to getting from S-Helper Showcase Line.
> 3. They have not decided if they will offer all units powered.
There is a risk of MTH having the B's unpowered, especially if they
package them as ABA sets. Their O gauge line only provides B units
as unpowered when packaged in ABA sets and makes you buy separate
powered B-units if you want one that really does work in your lash
up. I do not think the S community wants any unpowered locomotives
that are dead weight baggage when trying to pull long freights. We
need to voice our preferences on this subject.

remote locomotive uncoupling abilities like their HO and O lines.
We should all be excited and pleased that S-Helpers hard work and
magnitude of product will continue on. I think it is important that
we voice our needs and keep MTH on a path of fidelity that S-Helper
preached during their time. Please join together in a S Community
message that MTH can hear and respond to. We will be their customer
base so I think our needs will be heard.
