After much bluster and speculation on the OGR board based on what the Lionel
"Talk to Us" folks say, a response was given by Mike Reagan, Director of Lionel
Customer Support regarding scale wheels.
"Gentlemen, This data is simply not true. We are not including any models of
the
Y3 with scale wheels at this time, however, there will be both hi-rail and
scale
wheel set variants for our U-boat and SD70ACe models. Thank you, Mike Reagan
Director of Customer Service Lionel"
As one end of Lionel apparently doesn't know what the other end is doing, and
the 2012 V2 O Gauge catalog designers seem to be totally out of the loop, take
it for what it's worth.

I hate to prolong this thread, but I think adding scale wheels to steam
locomotives involves a lot more considerations than adding them to diesels.
