Don't blame this on lawyers. I'm one and don't see the big issue of
publishing in a directory distributed to members. I think this concern
usually comes from people who like to think they are lawyers. Believe
it or not, lawyers like to figure out ways to do things, rather than
stop them. Of course when they do, they get criticized for finding loop
holes.
TCA cut out the published member directory a while back and now members
have to email them for an address if they want it. You would think
maybe in a members only section of a website would be a possibility.
Opt outs are a good solution to cover those who object.
