Well. I hit send before I had finished the message, so here is the entire message:
A few weeks ago I shared photos my my first passenger equipment lettered for the Allegheny Western (see my website at www.AlleghenyWesternSub.com for background on the ficticious history of the Allegheny Western Railway).
Attached is another photo showing the Allegheny Western freight scheme, applied to an S Helper USRA hopper.
One additional photo shows some American Models GP-35's that were just placed in service. These units were purchased from the original S Helper Service offering, I think about 20 years ago!! After I had switched to DCC, these units just sat in their boxes, because I was not yet ready to do a full redetailing job on them.
This year, I decided that it was crazy to just let these units sit in the boxes, so I got them up and running with a minimal upgrade program: I painted the trucks and fuel tanks an off-black color, painted the handrails the correct colors, added Don's numberboard decals, installed Tsunami sound decoders and LED headlights. Later, I will add light weathering, and possible add MU hoses if I can find an appropriate HO part for this.
They look much better running on the layout than sitting in their boxes.
