Robert, CVP is equally popular down here as the two biggies. I've used
them while operating on friends' layouts. They don't have all the
features but it is easy to figure out and much above the MRC and
Bachmann type units.
I have 2 MRC sound decoders in some PA's that are 'okay'. Actually the
decoder I have is fairly cheap, has a high amp rating and has more horn
and exhaust choices than Soundtraxx units. The downside is the sound
volume has only a few choices while the Soundtraxx has 100's!
Soundtraxx also has much better motor controls overall. So if the money
thing is important, MRC will do okay but if your just a bit more fussy
Soundtraxx or perhaps the other sound products might be the ticket.
