Here’s another good site for calculating LED resistors for series and parallel 
circuits.

One of the issues Ed failed to mention is that you cannot economically purchase 
resistors 
for just any calculated value.  Usually rounding up (or down) to the next 
common available 
resistor value is necessary.  So, sometimes the precision value is not 
available, but it will be 
a safe, functional value.  Go to your nearest Radio Shack and look at there 
stock and you 
will see what I mean.
